Pediatrics Vaccine Policy Statement

Department of Pediatrics Vaccine Policy Statement:

Watson Clinic’s Pediatrics department is committed to your child’s well-being. We realize that you care deeply about your child’s health and safety. We do as well. Perhaps the single most important health-promoting intervention available to us as pediatricians are vaccinations. The safety and effectiveness of these vaccines have been well proven over the years.

All children and adolescents should receive each of the recommended vaccines according to the schedule put forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

These recommendations are based on scientifically reviewed medical literature, evidence-based evaluations, and ongoing monitoring. The FDA (Food and Drug Administration), the CDC, manufacturers, and medical investigators all support the current schedule. There is no evidence that vaccines/vaccinations cause autism or other developmental disorders. Extensive work has been done by many organizations throughout the world that support this conclusion.

Because we are committed to protecting the health of your child through vaccinations, your child should receive all age-appropriate vaccines, and any additional vaccines and booster doses according to established recommendations.

Some parents have questions regarding vaccinations. We ask you to let us know in advance of your child’s Well Checkup if you have questions.

If your choice as a parent is to not vaccinate your child despite all our efforts, we will ask you to find another healthcare provider outside of Watson Clinic Pediatrics who shares your views and can care for your child.

Thank you for taking the time to read this policy. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns you may have about vaccines with your pediatrician.

Sincerely,
Watson Clinic Pediatric Department
