Dr. Tarek Garas is board-certified in OB-GYN and Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. He is blessed to offer his services at two convenient Watson Clinic locations: the Watson Clinic Bella Vista Building and the Watson Clinic Bartow Building B.
Dr. Garas specializes in general gynecology, advanced gynecologic surgery, bladder incontinence, bowel incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain,
robotic surgery, and
diVa® laser vaginal therapy.
Dr. Garas received his medical degree from Creighton University of Medicine in Omaha, NE, then completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of several prestigious medical organizations, including the
American Urogynecologic Society, Physicians for Women’s Health, American College of Surgeons, Florida Obstetric and Gynecology Society, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
1. Why did you decide to go into the medical field?
I am part of a line of physicians and was raised to know the value of good medicine and that medicine promotes healing when practiced properly. My desire has always been to serve others and bring healing.
2. What is your philosophy for patient care?
To provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date care in the most comfortable and compassionate manner possible. From my earliest days, I have been taught that good medicine requires more than technology, and no two patients are exactly alike. I hope that at the time of your visit, you feel that you have my full attention and that you receive the level of care you deserve.
3. Which accomplishment in your medical career are you most proud of?
I am most proud of each patient I am able to help restore to health, and of every baby I assisted with entering this world safely.
4. What are some of the treatments or procedures you offer?
We offer the latest and most innovative treatments for urinary and fecal incontinence, diva vaginal laser therapy, pelvic reconstructive surgery, robotic surgery, contraception and heavy bleeding. Furthermore, we also offer the latest and most innovative office based procedures and therapies available to treat these conditions.
5. Tell us a little about your upbringing and family life?
I’m the oldest of three boys. I am married to the wife of my youth and the mother of my three children. Our family philosophy is that the greatest joy in life is the opportunity to serve others.
6. What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Besides weight lifting, horse riding, motorcycles, windsurfing, playing the drums, and above all, family time, I have found a love and passion for coaching young adults in developing a purpose-driven life.
