Dr. Chehan Herath is a Neurology specialist who treats patients from Watson Clinic Main at 1600 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland. His areas of expertise include clinical neurophysiology, including electroencephalogram (EEG), nerve conduction studies (NCS) and electromyography (EMG) testing, as well as the therapeutic use of BOTOX®.
 
Dr. Herath earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI, where he also completed his Neurology residency. He completed his Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Neurology.
 

1. What inspired you to get into healthcare?
Finding a career that allowed me direct and indirect ways to ease the suffering of others.

2. What made you choose your specialty?
I chose neurology because I was excited for the emerging frontiers and new treatment possibilities that will provide quality of life improvements to patients with conditions that were previously thought to be terminal or irreversible.

3. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Attending community events, traveling, knitting/crochet, baking desserts, playing video games, and watching anime.

4. What brought you to Central Florida?
The warm climate and strong neurology training programs!

5. What brought you to Watson Clinic?
The smaller town community!
