About Michael Mankbadi, MD

Dr. Michael R. Mankbadi is a board-certified non-invasive Cardiology specialist who treats patients from Watson Clinic Main at 1600 Lakeland Hills Blvd. in Lakeland.
His areas of expertise include echocardiography, cardiac CT, transesophageal echocardiography, stress testing, and preventive cardiology care.
Dr. Mankbadi received his medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, FL. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT, and his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, MA. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Adult Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology, and is a member of the American College of Internal Medicine, American College of Physicians, American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Echocardiography. He is multilingual in English, Spanish and Egyptian Arabic.
1. What inspired you to get into healthcare?
Growing up, I was drawn to healthcare by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference during some of the most vulnerable moments in people’s lives. I have always valued the combination of science, critical thinking, and human connection that medicine offers. Through my training and experiences caring for patients, I became especially inspired by the impact compassionate physicians can have not only on health outcomes, but also on patients and families navigating difficult situations.
2. What made you choose your specialty?
I was drawn to Cardiology by the unique opportunity to combine advanced, complex diagnostics with lifelong preventative care. It’s a privilege to walk alongside patients, helping them navigate acute cardiac events and empowering them to achieve long-term cardiovascular health.
3. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy baking, reading, exploring new food, traveling, tennis, astronomy, and spending time with my family
4. What brought you to Central Florida?
I’m originally from Central Florida. I left the area for a few years to complete my medical training, but I always knew I wanted to make my way back and serve a community I have always considered home.
