Coffee / Hospitality Volunteers

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Arts In Medicine Coffee/Hospitality Volunteer!


Coffee/Hospitality Volunteers welcome patients, family members and caregivers to the reception area and offer them coffee or tea while waiting for their appointments or while they are in the infusion room.
 
Duties:
  • Prepare the Coffee Area for opening and closing, including, cleaning and sanitizing coffee counter and materials.
  • Start coffee brewing at the beginning of shift and keep coffee carafes full during shift.
  • Keep coffee accessories stocked and orderly.
  • Engage visitors in friendly conversation as deemed appropriate.
  • Encourage patients/caregivers to visit the Arts In Medicine Studio.
  • Offer creative arts materials to patients and families in waiting areas and infusion room.
  • Answer questions relating to the Arts In Medicine program.
 
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18-years-old.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach above their shoulders.
  • Commit to volunteering a minimum of once a week for a 3-hour shift for at least 6 months.
  • Complete a mandatory criminal background check, health screen and orientation.
  • Adhere to the Watson Clinic policies and procedures, including the dress code.
  • Be responsible for communicating when unavailable for assigned shift.
 
Essential Skills Needed:
  • Volunteers must demonstrate a readiness to help others and the ability to maintain healthy boundaries while assisting patients and caregivers.
  • Volunteers must be self-starters who can work independently and with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Volunteers must demonstrate clear active-listening communication skills.
  • Volunteers must demonstrate objectivity and will not personalize their own experiences.
  • Volunteers are mature individuals who can provide a positive atmosphere and can empathize with people living with cancer.
  • Volunteers follow direction from staff.
