History Wall Installed In Lobby of Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital

5/20/2026

When Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital opens this summer, patients can enjoy an informative first floor lobby display recounting the historical highlights of both organizations.

The multi-panel display outlines Watson Clinic’s founding in 1941, its unprecedented growth over the years, and commitment to innovation throughout its history, which includes introducing a series of groundbreaking procedures and technologies to the community, such as open-heart surgery, robotic surgery, 3D mammography and innovative cardiac implants.

Orlando Health’s informative display recounts the company’s origins dating back to 1918, its tradition of excellence and healing, and the high standards of quality and compassionate care it has introduced to regions across the southeastern United States.

A separate display panel is reserved for future accomplishments achieved once the hospital opens in July 2026, such as the first baby born in the facility, an introduction of new treatments and technologies, and more.

Located at 4000 Lakeland Highlands Road in south Lakeland, the hospital represents a groundbreaking collaboration between Orlando Health and Watson Clinic that will expand access to exceptional healthcare services for patients across the Polk County community and beyond.

The hospital features:

  • 306 inpatient beds
  • 69 emergency and observation room beds
  • 11 operating rooms
  • four cardiac and interventional suites
  • labor and delivery services
  • neuroscience services with advanced stroke and spine care

Additional specialized programs will be announced at a later date.
