Wills And Bequests
One of the easiest and most common ways to make a planned gift is by making a bequest through your will. A bequest is a provision made in your will or living trust.Typically, people provide for a charity by making a bequest of a specific amount of money. However, there are several alternatives that might be more beneficial to you.
You can bequeath cash, personal property or real estate. You may also make a bequest for a percentage of your estate. Then, if the size of your estate changes, your charitable gift will adjust. It is also possible to leave all or part of "what’s left" by designating all or part of the remainder of your estate after your loved ones have been provided for.
Since your personal financial situation is unique, be sure to consult your attorney before making any changes to your will. To assist your attorney, the Foundation has developed sample bequest language that your attorney may wish to use when drafting a will or codicil which includes a gift to the Watson Clinic Foundation, Inc.
