Auxiliary
Auxiliary Benefits Cancer Care in the Community
It all started with two members of the community who wanted to make a difference in the lives of others.
In 2004, Mike and Linda Logan began coordinating an annual wine and cheese event to benefit cancer patients in the area. The money raised at this event – and their ongoing efforts throughout the remainder of the year – are presented to the Watson Clinic Foundation for funding of special programs and clinical trials associated with the Center for Cancer Care & Research.
Two years ago, the Logans formed the Watson Clinic Foundation Auxiliary as a means to accelerate their commitment and cultivate a united philanthropic front in the fight against cancer.
In 2010 alone, the Auxiliary raised a record amount of $123, 225 in support of local cancer care and research efforts. ‘Toast for the Cure’ was held at the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club and provided an opportunity for community members to gather in support of the Auxiliary, while generating increased awareness and additional funding for enhanced services available to local cancer patients.
Next year’s event will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Lakeland Yacht & Country Club from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Admittance to the event is a $50 per person donation. All donations to the Watson Clinic Foundation Auxiliary are directed toward the funding of enhanced services for local cancer patients, and donations are accepted year-round. Checks should be made payable to the Watson Clinic Foundation, with ‘Auxiliary’ noted in the memo line and mailed to Linda Logan, Auxiliary Chairperson, PO Box 6257, Lakeland, FL, 33807.
