Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

Ophthalmic (Eye) Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery includes procedures involving the eyelid (droopy eyelids, baggy eyelids, etc.), tear drainage system and eye socket. Specialists within this specialty, often referred to as Oculoplastics, see patients for cosmetic eyelid surgery, Botox injections, Latisse, facial fillers, revisional eyelid surgery, eyelid tumors and eyelid/orbital trauma.

Dr. Srinivas S. Iyengar is an oculofacial plastic surgeon, with board-certification in ophthalmology. He attended medical school at the University of Colorado in Denver, CO where he also performed his surgical internship at Exempla St. Joseph Hospital. He performed his residency at the University of Kansas in Kansas City, KS. Dr. Iyengar then spent a year traveling abroad teaching ophthalmology around the globe with ORBIS International as part of their Flying Eye Hospital Team, before completing a 2-year fellowship, sponsored by American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, in orbital and oculoplastic surgery at Eyesthetica in Los Angeles, CA. There are about 400-500 surgeons in the country who have completed subspecialty training in this area and he is one of the only ones in Central Florida.

 

Dr. Iyengar is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, the Florida Medical Association and the Polk County Medical Association. He is also fluent in Spanish and Kannada.

Dr. Iyengar received national recognition for his role as an ophthalmic specialist in eye and orbital trauma for the Detroit Tigers Florida operations. Click here to view a recent article.
