Watson Clinic orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist Prashant Desai, DO, will present a lecture titled ‘Custom Knee and Muscle Sparing Hip Replacement’ on Tuesday, April 5 at Noon. Dr. Desai will discuss the latest technologies and minimally invasive surgical techniques available to those who require knee or hip replacement. RSVP: 863-680-7189. This lecture will take place at the North Lakeland YMCA, located at 2125 Sleepy Hill Road in Lakeland.
On Thursday, April 28 at 6:00 pm, orthopaedic surgeon Camilo E. Guzman, MD, will conduct an informative lecture titled ‘What’s New in Hip and Knee Arthritis Treatments.’ During the lecture, which will take place on the 3rd floor at Watson Clinic’s Bella Vista Building, located at 1755 N. Florida Avenue in Lakeland, Dr. Guzman will explore the latest minimally invasive techniques used to rectify arthritic conditions in the hip and knee joints. About the Speakers:
Dr. Desai received his degree from Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, MI. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the POH Medical Center in Pontiac, MI and his fellowship in Sports Medicine at Tom Winters, M.D. in Orlando, FL. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and the Polk County Medical Association.

Dr. Guzman is board-eligible by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, as well as a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Florida Orthopaedic Society, and a member of the American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and the Polk County Medical Association. Dr. Guzman received his fellowship training in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD, under the direction of internationally known adult reconstructive expert, Dr. Michael Mont. He completed a five-year orthopaedic residency program at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He achieved a Doctorate of Medicine degree with Honors from Pontificia Javeriana University, and also completed an internship and residency in orthopaedics and traumatology at Pontificia Javeriana University, San Ignacio Hospital. Dr. Guzman has special training in upper extremity surgery from the Hospital Universitario San Ignacio in Bogotá, Colombia. He also attended an observership in sports medicine at Campbell Clinic in Germantown, TN, and a general orthopaedics observership at Capital Region Orthopaedics in Albany, NY.
