Watson Clinic Sports Medicine Department Offers Sports Physical Day for Area Athletes

6/5/2010

The sports medicine department at Watson Clinic is pleased to offer a free Sports Physical Day to all incoming freshmen and returning athletes from competitive high school sports teams. The event will take place at the Main Clinic location, 1st floor west, Orthopaedics Department, 1600 Lakeland Hills Boulevard in Lakeland, on Saturday, June 5 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 pm.

The physicals will satisfy the required criteria for clearance to participate in competitive school sports, and will be executed by the team of experts who comprise Watson Clinic’s sports medicine and orthopaedic surgery departments.  Any athlete who requires further examination or treatment due to a pre-existing condition will receive a referral to their primary care physician or appropriate specialist.  This screening should not replace the student’s annual visit to the pediatrician.

All eligible athletes should arrive with a completed pre-participation form from their coach, which is to be signed by a parent. Athletes from these schools are encouraged to adhere to the following schedule:

8 am –   9 am:     Lakeland and Auburndale High Schools

9 am – 10 am:     McKeel Academy and George Jenkins High School

10 am – 11 am:   Santa Fe Catholic, Bartow and Fort Meade High Schools

11 am –   1 pm:   Lake Gibson and Mulberry High Schools

1 pm – 2 pm:    Tenoroc High School and All Saints Academy

2 pm – 3 pm:    Kathleen, Lakeland Christian, and Victory High Schools
