Watson Clinic Announces Two Orthopaedic Lectures in January 2010

The Watson Clinic orthopaedic surgery department is pleased to present the next two events in their series of free informative lectures.

On Thursday, January 21 at 6:00 pm, Watson Clinic hand surgeon Anne M. Meo, DO will present ‘Thumb and Wrist Pain:  Arthritis vs. Tendonitis.' The lecture will cover the various types of tendon and arthritis afflictions, and the surgical and non-surgical options available to treat these conditions. 

Dr. Meo received her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine/New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, NY. She completed her osteopathic internship and was the chief intern at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford, NJ. Her residency in orthopaedic surgery was completed at the Peninsula Hospital/Northshore LIJ Consortium in New York, where she also served as the chief resident.  She completed a fellowship in hand surgery at the State University of New York in Stony Brook.

Dr. Meo is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics, the American Osteopathic Association and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.  She is board-certified in her specialty.

On Thursday, January 28 at 6:00 pm, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist Prashant J. Desai DO will conduct an informative lecture titled ‘Common Causes of Shoulder & Knee Pain.  During the lecture, Dr. Desai will review the root causes and surgical and non-surgical treatments associated with shoulder and knee pain, and discuss a new and exciting alternative to knee replacement.  Dr. Desai received his degree from Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine in East Lansing, MI. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the POH Medical Center in Pontiac, MI and his fellowship in Sports Medicine at Tom Winters, M.D. in Orlando, FL.

Dr. Desai is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and the Polk County Medical Association.
