Watson Clinic is pleased to welcome cardiac and thoracic surgeon Andres Medina, MD, FACS, to our expert team of heart care specialists.  Dr. Medina will perform cardiovascular surgical procedures at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. His areas of expertise include minimally invasive cardiac and thoracic approaches including daVinci robotic surgery, percutaneous transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVI), off pump coronary artery bypass grafting, and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery lobectomy.

Dr. Medina earned his medical degree from Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.  He performed his internship and residency in general surgery at the Memorial Health University Medical Center, Mercer School of Medicine, in Savannah, GA.  He went on to perform his residency in general surgery and completed fellowships in cardiothoracic surgery and heart and lung transplants at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL.  Dr. Medina served as the Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery in the department of Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, FL.

Dr. Medina is board-certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery.  He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Chest Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association, the Polk County Medical Association, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Medina’s office is located at Watson Clinic’s Main location at 1600 Lakeland Hills Boulevard in Lakeland.
