Dr. Louis S. Saco has been a Gastroenterologist with Watson Clinic since August of 1981 and has been the CEO and Chairman of the Board since January of 2002. He is board-certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, and has specialty certification in Managed Care Medicine.
 
He completed his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC; and his Internal Medicine Internship & Residency from Georgetown University Hospital.
 
Dr. Saco went on to complete a Gastroenterology Fellowship in the Division of Digestive Disease and Nutrition, Department of Medicine at University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC.
 
Dr. Saco graduated with his MBA from the University of South Florida School of Business in Tampa, FL.
 
Dr. Saco is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Physician Executives, American College of Sports Medicine, Florida Gastroenterology Society, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association and Polk County Medical Association.
 
Governing board positions that Dr. Saco currently holds are with Watson Clinic (Chairman), Lakeland Surgical & Diagnostic Center LLP and Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine. He is on the Board of Directors for the Watson Clinic Foundation (Chairman) Center for Research and Tampa Bay Partnership. Dr. Saco is on the Board of Trustees at Florida Southern College and on the Advisory Board at Volunteers in Service to the Elderly (VISTE). He was a former Council Member at Florida Society of Internal Medicine, former Board Member at All Saint’s Academy and Lakeland Christian School, and former Member of the Board of Directors at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
 
Dr. Saco is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor at Florida Southern College. He is also the team physician for the Detroit Tigers - Florida Operations and the Lakeland Flying Tigers. He is a member of the Major League Baseball Team Physician Society. For two consecutive years, Dr. Saco was the chairman for the Heart Start! Walk for the American Heart Association.
